20140916 Normal Club Comp

Normal Comp.

Hmmm Maybe I am getting better ~

Or not

:P

(BTW the gun was covered with grease..  literally... so slippery that racking the slide is a challenge, and the recoil makes oil/greese bounce out in multiple direction, one lands on my face. :P.)

(The gun is so oily that U.S. decides to invade it.) :P

20140703 Waiting times at springvale range

Early comers need to wait longer time than Late Comers.

Whats the point of implementing a numbering system, if everyone is just going to jump infront of the line and the R O allows it with a smile.

Then till its time I go it R.O. Says "Sorry mate, I guess if the range is full. the range is full. does't matter if u waited 1 hour or not" *Shrugs*.

Its just not fair.

(Several People who arrive last minute but first to run up to the door to queue, Shame on u!)

Oh well. Life goes on. Forgive me little Rant.

:P

20140629 club comp

Normal club comp. cold and wet.
had to wait 1 hour.
I don't mind the wait. but why are all our members such inconsiderate bunch.
even-thou they know plenty of people are waiting outside they still hang around chit-chatting with the RO or keep stalling time even after the session is over.

20140610 Ammooooo~~~

Well, what's the first thing you do, once u got your provision licence?

Buy Ammunition Ofcourse~~!!

Before: $6000 fine if found possessing ammo.
After: legally able to carry around ammunition (in a secure locked box ofcourse).

Found out buying Ammo from an ammo shop is more expensive than buying ammo in the range. hmmmm....

Also found out, Wat da Hell is with this "Australia wide Ammo Shortage" now (factory ammo only, plenty of reloads around)??? Grrrrr....

 Huhuhu Ammos...

Sub Sonic .22 LR (Remington)
Found out that 'Sub-Sonic' Ammo Sucks.
Tried shooting some .22 LR sub sonics. its so inaccurate... let my brother try he say he can actually see the projectile falling down missing the target..
The Bullet is not secure tight, its loose on the top, i fear if i just flick it, the bullet will fall out. =_="
and when bullet fires it felt like someone didnt put enough powder in the case. goes with a quieter 'pop', instead of Bang!.

Maybe subsonic ammo are only ment for "Special Agents", those ppl who use with silencers.
(BTW silencers are illegal to own here.)

That's the last time I am buying any subsonic ammo.

20140528 Rifle (Longarm Safety Course).

Finally, it's time to attend Long Hands Safety Course. and guess what.
I arrived late. I thought class starts at 7:30pm. It started at 7:00pm. Got there on 7:25pm going "yes! just in time~". Then knocked and walked in, seeing a classroom full of people. @__@"" Waaaaat??

The the DFO told me, "Oh you're 30min late, you missed alot. Please sign you name at the back and take a seat."

This course includes a 10 question test (Laws and Regulations). Then followed by a safety session, then a 30 question test. Class finish around 10pm.you may go once u have pass the test.

Content is pretty much same as Handgun Safety Course except Longarm safety course caters to more towards hunting and primary produce needs. so things like 'never cross a fence with a loaded gun, never shoot at water or rocks, a clogged barrel will blow up, safe handling, etc etc.'

(Everyone was so quiet and non-social in the class for sum reason)

To my utter surprise, I scored 29/30... WHAATTTT!!! (I blame it on the question~ for being so vague. hehehehe.)

------------------------

Application form.
Sent it out 10 June 2014.

Just wanted the license. didn't want to own or buy a rifle at this stage. I just wanna focus on Handguns.

20140530 - Payment (Probational Handgun License)

2) Then you to go to a Post office to get ur photo taken. and signature taken.

3) Then you go home and wait for your license to arrive in the mail... (rubbing my hands together, muahahahahaa)

---------------

Awesome~ Got a nice membership number~~

20140511 Club Rifle

Times like this I wish I can use my own rifle. I keep having to aim 45 degree left n up to hit the target. :P. all shots are 'guesstimates' shots.

(Sigh, still can't shoot handguns -_-, running low on Nori and waiting for probation license.)

2014/05/25 - Yeahh, police called, asking me to attend a 'rifle safety course'. (Submited the form like 1.5 weeks ago.)
I tot safety courses are held in shooting range, but he asked me to go to a police station. oh well, different experience :).

20140505 VIC Police Finger Printing.

Its so quick~!!, within 5-10min I was done. wow~

I Just Get in, Hand in form, let them photocopy my licence, pay $165, usher into another room. Get finger print recorded in a machine. and then off u go. There isn't any waiting time involved. The only wait is waiting for the FingerPrinting Facility to open it's door. There is a cafe right opposite the place, so u can just sit there sipping on coffeee and eat your breakfast, while watch the doors open for you~. Hehehe.

Guess it's the Benefits of having an 8am appointment. U get there before the Rush hour jam even starts. and head back the opposite direction and see everyone bumper to bumper jam going into the city~.. muahahaha.

Oh, and when u are this early, theres lots of parking everywhere~
(I parked in Crown Casino and walked across the road.)

Got there like 7:40am The place is pretty easy to find.

Things to be aware.
- No Cash accepted (EFTPOS, Credit Card, Cheque)
- Bring 100 Points of ID, (and Back up ID)
- Bring your application forms per-filled, its faster that way.

Now my finger prints are forever in the Police records.....

-------------------------

So quick~! I got the results on same week. @_@. Infact, 2 days later~ Wow~~~

20140501 - Nori #8

I don't really want to use so much of my NORIs (They don't get Refreshed once u finish using them. Once u finish it, you may NEVER shoot again without a license).

But then again. I needed some practice, and I felt like going. So I went.

Here is the results:

Damn it! the pictures keep flipping 90 degrees by themselves -___-"

20140410 - Nori #5

My Nori #5

 (Why all the shot upwards~!, is it me or the gun!? I don't know.)

Try to do a 100 round session again, this time maybe was taking too long (we'll there are more people this time, not as free as last time.).
Last 30 rounds left, Range officer wanted me to go "Rambo".

20140330 Club Rifle

Wasn't impress with the results.

1) The plank keep shaking. (Movement by other shooters)
2) I suck. (Can't deny, sometimes just suck at aiming and triggering correctly)
3) The Rifle suck. (Keep failing to extract -_-")

20140306 - NORI # 2

~~~ MY NORI #2 ~~~
To those who don't know what Nori is, Well its a kind of Japanese Seaweed (see photo below~) that we wrap our sushi with~ ^^
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nori
----------------
Ok, just kidding, for Shooting. Shooting a NORI means.
Notice of Receiving Instructions (N.O.R.I)
It is a 2 page form/document from the police where u have to fill out everytime you handle a firearm without a firearm license. A person is only allowed 10 nori shoots in his/her life. After you finish 10 Nori sessions, you just cannot touch a handgun anymore. It does not regenerate, or get refreshed, once 10 is used, u just cannot ... that's it.
You don't have to print or your own nori form, all range normally have heaps of NORI forms lying around, u just need to ask for one.
@Tip@: Its good if you can fill out one NORI, leave the signature and Instructor collum empty, and photo copy a few, so u don't have to fill them out every time you visit the range. pre-photo copied NORI is accepted as long as the signature and instructor part is not photocopy.
---------------------
Here is my Nori#2.
Very good I think session (Never shot this good before~).  One of the guys there couldn't believe I shot that. and jokingly said, "If u keep shooting like that I am gonna have to break ur arm". LOLs~.
 I keep thinking that I miss the target completely, but they went into the black part of the target, (hard to see from 25m away). Next time maybe need to bring a binoculars.. -_-"
20140304 - The Introduction to Handguns Course (AKA NORI #1)
Preety Fun for my first shoot of my life ~ :)
The aspect I didn't anticipate is the sound. Watching so many action movies makes me think that shots fired are 'reasonably loud'. In-fact it is 'Friggin damn loud', hard to explain the sheer 'loudness' when it goes BANG!!. Even with earmuff my ears suffers T_T. But fun times~
Tried .22 beretta
Tried .38 S&W
Tried .38 special
Tried 9mm (CZ75)
Tried 9mm (Glock)
Tried .45(1911)
Most of the time I was using my instructor's gun because there aren't enough 9mm club guns to go around. The trigger pull was so much different from normal club guns (which we all had to try out too). Good Thing to know how to differentiate from what a shitty trigger is; and a smooth crisp trigger feels.
Finish all my allocated ammo too quickly, so the instructor got me more~~ Woohoo~
(Ammo is included in the course)
Here is the result. (Looks like a shotgun hit it, :P. big holes small holes, everywhere~.)
When using CZ75 a primer fell out of a bullet and jammed up the whole magazine. Everyone took turns and took some time to clear it. :P
Hi All, First post to start off my blog
Hello Everyone.
First post~
Purpose of this blog is to document my Shooting progress. If anyone even reads this, feel free to give comments. This blog is also to document my progress. and hopefully be informative for some new shooters who is also interested in this hobby.
Before I start I'll like to say: A firearm IS and always will be a dangerous object. Just like a car, if your drive very carefully, you and the people around you is safe. If you drive recklessly, you may injure yourself and also innocent pedestrians. Like a knife wont decide to stab you out of the blue when u get close to it. A gun will not fire if your finger is not on the trigger. So, please, Safety first. If not sure. Don't shoot.
As many may knows, Australia is a very 'Gun Paranoia' country (atleast the way I see it.), however, despite that one can still Legally own, carry and shoot a real handgun, if you have a 'genuine reason' to do so. (BTW home protection/self defense is NOT a genuine reason to own a gun. which personally I think is good thing.). Thankfully, Sports Shooting is a genuine reason. Halleluiah~!
------------------
Since Mar 2014, I have started This Sports Shooting Hobby. I wanted to take it slow, and work on the techniques. Make it as a weekly thinggy. All good skills and mastery takes time. So I am currenty just taking it slow. Learn and practice, learn and practice.
--------------
Before you put up your hand "YES YES, I WANT TO SHOOT TOO!!" here is some self-checking points for you to see if Shooting is really the right hobby for you or not:
1) It takes abloody long time to get your license. (Long waiting time is part of the package, this is good to see who is serious and committed to this hobby and who is not.)
2) It cost bloody lots of money before you even get your foot in the door. (I haven't got my probational license yet, and already spent $900.)
3) Its not a Teddybear building sport, guns are essentially weapons. and there is always a risk of getting injured (getting shot) if careless, or being injured by other's careless shooters standing beside you.
Think of it as a long term commitment. If your answer is still yes, then welcome aboard.
